Aldridge Cycles shop with Volt Metro e-bikes and road sign

Continuing along the South Coast from our last Dealer Spotlight in Portsmouth, our latest edition features Aldridge Cycles in West Cornwall. This family-oriented bike shop in Camborne has been serving the people of Cornwall for over 37 years. Here’s what the current owner Shaun has to say…

What motivated you to open/run a bicycle shop?

After working for a chain of shops in Surrey, I decided I would like to start out on my own, and what better place than Cornwall with its beautiful cycling countryside. 28 years on and still living the dream!

What makes your store different from others?

Our priority is personal service – finding out the needs of our customers and helping them achieve them.

Where is the best/favourite location you’ve ever cycled?

UK – Cornwall of course, can be hilly but with a Volt ebike no problem! Overseas- Mallorca the terrain is varied and the roads are in such good condition!

What is the funniest/strangest request you’ve ever had from a customer?

“Do you sell bikes?” (inside a shop full of bikes???)

What about the Volt brand and range led you to stock them?

After being approached by Volt to represent them in West Cornwall, I did a lot of research and was pleased to find out how highly thought of they were by existing customers. They also do a varied range of bikes to suit all tastes and requirements.

What is your favourite Volt e-bike and why?

Volt Pulse X – Great High Torque motor that will cope with the steepest of hills, large capacity battery that lasts for up to 80 miles and it looks great.

What is your top tip for anyone looking to buy an electric bike?

Talk to a dealer who can help you decide on the right bike for your requirements and arrange a test ride – we always do this that way the customer can be sure the bike will fulfil their needs.

Don’t buy cheap internet ebikes as it will end in tears when there is a problem.
